Inherited Momentum, Missing Infrastructure: Leading Through Chaotic Growth

ID: WMA2026_622

Track:

Join leaders of two longstanding community organizations who stepped into their roles in chaotic times. Both joined their organizations fairly recently, at moments when their predecessors had planned for significant growth but not the infrastructure to support it. Staff were underpaid, key relationships were missing, long-term financial planning was lacking. In this session you will hear the story of each presenter, followed by a lot of Q&A time. Bring your stories and your questions!

Session Information

Format: Regular session/panel (roundtable, single speaker, etc.)

Uniqueness: Our session is unique because not a lot of leaders would be willing to address this publicly, we’re used to only sharing the positive.

Objectives: We want to share our stories to give participants ideas and know that their situation isn’t unique. We’re hoping they will learn from each other more than us!

Engagement: We want other leaders stepping into uncomfortable situations to know they are not alone, and to build a network they can reach out to when they need advice or commiseration.
