Challenges in Museum Volunteerism

ID: WMA2026_619

Track:

Volunteer programs at all levels have faced significant challenges in the past few years like an aging volunteer population, post-pandemic recruitment, and diminishing retention numbers. A group of panelists will discuss how they have approached these challenges and share what has and hasn’t worked for them. Hear from the experts in volunteerism, so you can walk away with actionable steps you can take for your volunteer program!

Session Information

Format: Regular session/panel (roundtable, single speaker, etc.)

Uniqueness: There is very little discussion of volunteer topics, and I have yet to see a discussion of some of these important issues

Objectives: Audience should walk away with a greater understanding of recruitment and retention strategies for volunteers

Engagement: I would like to have a worksheet that audiences can take home with them, that gives actionable steps to improve their volunteer programs. I would like to do a Q&A session with the audiences near the end.
